Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

How many bad experiences or inconveniences do we impose on ourselves? Human beings tend to be cynical, thinking people are out to sabotage them or thinking society is set up for them to fail. This thought process can range from thinking you’re going to be late to work, to thinking your time on Earth will be cut short. Therefore, we behave in ways that increase the likelihood of our perceived negative outcome. Just your train of thought, frequency, and vibration can cause your ship to sink. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Most of our pain is self-afflicted. We absorb any negative experiences we’ve had and accept them as absolute truths. We don’t allow ourselves to move on from these experiences. We latch on to them to get a false sense of protection.

Why do we move forward in this life with negativity? Why do we believe this actually protects us? Where I grew up, I was scared to leave the house as a kid. If I did leave the house, I was on eggshells with hyper-awareness. I even wore a mask (not literally) and made myself look tougher than normal. Eventually this became second-nature. I thought these acts would protect me as a few kids in the past had robbed me and beaten me. And maybe I was protected to some extent. But this was very taxing on my mental health. Living in fear in the world was like living in hell. Ironically, the same things I did to protect myself, were the same tools that led to my detriment. This is the same reason I suffer with anxiety today. It became comfortable.

Can I imagine a life without fear? A life without thinking something’s going to go wrong? Things usually go wrong when I believe so. And if I am confident, things could still go wrong, but I feel much better. So my negative perception produces suffering no matter the outcome. And a healthy perception gives me peace no matter the outcome.
