How to Take a Punch

I received a lot of blows to the stomach today in Muay Thai training. Today was all about taking a hit. In Muay Thai, you have to be able to take a hit. Otherwise, your opponent will quickly get the upper hand and may have you fall to the floor. Halfway through my session, I knew what I was going to write about. In life, taking a hit is inevitable. Moreover, you have to absorb the blow. Otherwise, you will get knocked out eventually.

Despite what you see on my Instagram, I'm taking blows in Thailand. From career challenges, to social currency, I'm figuring out how to properly be. Many times I get hit, and need to quickly get back on defense or counter attack. This is how you sustain and grow in life. Knowing how to take a punch is essential to your survival.

I’ve been living in Thailand for a month now. And every day I’m figuring it out. What does my community here look like, even when conflict within the community exists? What does my wellness routine look like, considering I have to work at unideal times during the day? These are thought-proving questions for me. It took me a 20-hour flight to paradise to then learn how to take a punch.
